Conventions - real world based, themes of friendship, multiple main characters

Conventions - high tension, anticipation, rise and fall of tension,
- eg pulp fiction
- eg the hunt
- eg hijack
3 - Sci-fi -
Conventions - technology, unfamiliar settings, futuristic
- eg alien
- eg terminator
- eg avatar
4 - Love story - red, pink
Conventions - romantic settings (eg paris), main characters usually a man and woman, colours like pink and red
- eg romeo and juliet
- eg titanic
- eg west side story
5 - Coming of age -
Conventions - external factor forces them to mature and grow up, sadness towards the end, becoming adults
- eg stand by me
- eg the goonies
- eg IT
Hybrid -
it is clear that stranger things demonstrates genre hybridity
