Historical - Snow White
The great depression
The great depression meant that snow white attracted more viewers as people needed an escape from the chaos therefore they bought tickets to go and see snow white leading to a $6 million box office. This also affected movies such as The Wizard of Oz which came out in 1939, this movie was also used as an 'escapism' to the great depression.
Economic - Shang chi
Larger budgets to produce films
A larger budget allowed Shang Chi to use better technology such as WETA in order to produce better effects and a more realistic film. Similarly movies like Dune and The Batman also used WETA which was available due to the large budgets, Dune: Part one which had a budget of 4165 million and The Batman which had a budget of $185 - 200 million.
